Jason Bhattacharya has been playing music his entire life. As a child, he was introduced to a wide variety of styles and sounds. Initially starting out on drums, he soon began to play the piano as well. He has studied drums with Jeff Salem, Mike Siracusa and Anthony Michelli as well as RCM piano until Level 9.
At the age of 15, Bhattacharya was injured in a car accident and was unable to perform or play drums for several months at which time he decided to start learning guitar. Continuously practicing and listening to music, he developed a fascination with trying to capture the sounds he’d heard.
Bhattacharya began to write and record songs in which he performed all of the instruments. After recording just under 200 original compositions, he decided to try his hand at producing and recording other artists. Now 27, he has performed alongside some of Canada’s top groups. As a drummer, he has performed all across Canada with groups such as Dan Edmonds, Taylor Knox and Bart. Bhattacharya is currently working with his new group Granny Smith and continues to write, produce and record music.
